Troy Barber

1. Please, describe shortly who you are.
My name is Troy Barber, I am 28 years old originally from Norfolk but have been a hairstylist based in Cambridgeshire for the last 10 years.
2. How many years have you been a hairstylist?
I have been in the hairdressing industry now for 13 years.
3. Tell us more about your studies and your professional experiences / achievements ?
I am a Level 3 qualified hairdresser, with advanced hair extension training. Ever-since I qualified I have always surrounded myself with other amazing hairstylists so that I constantly felt inspired by their work as well as my own.Ive been lucky to work on projects from catwalk shows such as London Fashion Week & Harvey Nichols Spring/Summer tour, to working on some live events creating looks for dancers for Rita Ora. A big achievement for me was also to style the hair for world renowned make-up artist Lisa Eldridge for the BAFTA awards.
4. Awards and certificates?
Recently received a Highly Commended Award from the British Hair & Beauty Awards 2019.
5. How Would You Describe Your Work Style?
I would describe my work style as Versatile. I really don’t like to put myself in a box and say I have one specific look, or one aspect on the industry I love more than the other. It’s more about creating something that the client is going to love.
6. How do you approach the customer (for example: “I find original and creative hairstyles or I’ll try to find the best ones based on the customer personality style and visages”)
I love working with hair and seeing what it can do, so I take every client as an individual and enjoy creating something bespoke for them.
7. Which are the most important skills that a hairstylist should have?
Teamwork and kindness. It’s really important for a hairstylist to want to work as a team and learn from others.
8. How did you reach your success?
I like to think I haven’t reached my full potential as of yet. I have got to where I am now through dedication, hard work and learning from the best. Always striving for more is something i always do as it gives me that drive to achieve things I never thought I could.
9. Why did you choose to work with Gold Fever?
I chose to work with Gold Fever as to me it’s the best brand out there. I was originally attracted to the brand because of its Ethical sourcing. Then I had the pleasure of using the hair and instantly fell in love, as did my clients. Gold Fever are a brand that not only look after their customer wearing their hair but also the hairstylists using the hair, constantly providing support and advice. I feel excited for Gold Fever as it’s always reaching new levels and as an educator for them, I am so excited to be on this journey!
